Pink Rock and Seaweed study Photo © Iain Morrison 2008There are so many people to thank and acknowledge in the early stages of the project. I must thank Mary Young who was my first contact when I started out on this adventure, thanks for all the information and help. Chris at Sutherland County for her encouragement and running a wonderful site for all who are interested in Genealogy and Social History. Then my Son Chris who created the flash elements and helps when I am stuck!

Then Dr Coull for his generous permission to use his excellent study on Melness in the early 60's. Thanks are due to the following from Melness, Dolla Mackay, Jimmy Allan Mackay, the late Jean Morrison, Joan Morrison, Alec George Mackay, John Macdonald and Hamish from the Craggan, the Misses Macleod, Achninver and the Rev John F. Mackie for some information relating to Melness Church and the late Peter Burr from Tongue for his help with many things. I am pleased to acknowledge the tremendous help and encouragement of the staff in my local library at Grangemouth as well as the National Library and National Record Office and not forgetting the Archivist in Wick and the staff at Wick Heritage Centre and the archivists in Inverness.

About The Project

Melness Pier Photo © Iain Morrison Welcome to the Melness Internet Site. This is a labour of love for me. It is a celebration of all that makes Melness a wonderful place. It holds so many fantastic memories for me, growing up there until going to School in Golspie. It is a celebration of the people, their culture, history, music, poetry and heritage. I hope you like the new design and find the site easy to use. There are lots of new pages and resources to enjoy and many more to come in the future. Enjoy, Iain
